Animal Rescue + Sanctuary in the Texas Hill Country

Helping the helpless and giving rest to the weary
Animals, like people, can find themselves in situations beyond their control and in need of a helping hand (with thumbs). Whether they are abused, neglected or abandoned there is always hope and we provide a way out. We are one of the many rescues providing escape from suffering and a place for healing at our Hill Country Animal Sanctuary. Please consider contributing below.
Meet a few Misfits
Medical Experimentation
Paul and his sister Inky were rescued from a research lab where they were used as research subjects. At many labs where animal testing takes place, the animals are euthanized after. This lab has recently started a program and they are now working with us to adopt out these animals. Paul and Inky are the first!
Kill Pen Horse Rescue
All of our equines are rescues. Did you know you can get a perfectly healthy horse in a kill pen at auction?? They may need a little extra love and training, but there are many lovable amazing horses, donkeys and mules. Pictured here we have Prince (white), Bree (white), Amal (Bay) and Willow (mini mule).
Left for Dead
Leo was found in a parking lot by people who actually thought he was dead. He was full of scars and scrapes. He was incredibly terrified of people. He was taken to the vet and found to be FIV+. FIV (feline AIDS) cats can live normal healthy lives! He was then brought to us for a chance at life and he is truly the sweetest soul here. He was come a long way and is truly perfect.
Euthanasia Rescue
Peter and his brother Timothy were found in a neighborhood and brought to a wildlife center. Peter was noted to be paralyzed and unable to move his hind legs. This made him high risk for euthanasia. We were contacted and gladly took these two in as part of our family. Peter gets around just fine and will soon be getting a wheelchair!
Abandoned, Fatblind, Deaf
RubyRose was one of our first pig rescues. She was abandoned and living under a trailer in a rural area. The neighbors were feeding her inappropriate food and she became so obese she became blind and deaf due to fat. Someone called animal control and due to overcrowding, their only solution was to shoot our precious girl. We welcomed here with opened arms and could not be happier to have her here! She is truly a queen here! She has already lost over 30 pounds!
Starved for Love
Opal is a 19 year old quarter horse who was rescued from a kill pen. She was skin and bones. Her initial rescuer intended to use her to teach children riding lessons however Opal was in no condition for that at the time. When they realized she was not a good fit, she was no longer of use to them and found her way to us. She is our wise sweet lady and Willow’s best buddy.
